goddamnshinyrock:

my arctic environment professor on narwhals: “they’re pretty interesting creatures, I guess, even though they’re not birds.”

my arctic environment professor on a colleague: “this is [name], she used to study polar bears but has improved her life and works on birds now.”

me, working my thesis project: the hardest part of interpretative writing is using accessible language to explain scientific concepts. trying to concisely describe what nurse logs do without just saying “ecological facilitation” is SO GODDAMN DIFFICULT

me, ten minutes later: god I love interpretative writing

the professor in my executive leadership class asked us ‘what do you think is the type of organization that has been found to be the most passive-aggressive?’

all three museology grad students immediately said ‘non-profits!’ and then we looked at each other and burst out laughing, while the rest of the class looked on in confusion

the answer was, of course, non-profits.
