Brooklyn Fanzine. Loved your art on it.
oh man, you’ve been through a lot with me, then!
Why did you start following me?

4, 17, 24 and 37!
4: Quick, you’re in desperate need of a fake name. What character name do you think of first?
oh god I answered this on in the tags of the meme reblog: the first thing I thought of when I skimmed that post was ‘Esme Weatherwax’ which means I would have the least convincing pseudonym ever.
17: What do you think about movie/tv adaptations?
Depends on the adaptation! If it’s done with loving respect to the book and is true to the spirit of the source material, they can be fantastic, and great for getting new readers interested (see: Jeeves and Wooster)! If it’s transformative and goes beyond the source material, while touching on it, it can either be a flop or be something really interesting that stands on it’s own (see: Les Miserables musical version). If it’s not respectfully and carefully made, but instead superficial and full of ‘easter eggs’ but without the same soul as the book, it can be a fucking travesty (see: Moffat’s Sh*rlock).
24: First book(s) you remember being obsessed with
I honestly can’t remember the first, because I was both an incredibly voracious reader as a kid and also have an extremely obsessive personality so it happened a lot.
The funniest one I do remember is Jean M. Auel’s Earth’s Children series, circa age 11 or so. If you’re thinking ‘wait, Mica, aren’t those a series of 900+ page paleolithic erotic fiction novels?’ then I am happy to tell you, yes. That is exactly what those are. The first one, which we had because my mother read it for her book group, doesn’t have any sex, so she had no reason to worry when I picked it up. I loved it, so of course I got the second one out of the library. The protagonist leaves the tribe of Neanderthals that adopted her as a baby and goes to meet other humans in the second one, and BOY HOWDY does she get busy (…in between inventing/discovering domestic animals, various hand tools, skis, certain medicinal herbs, and basically any advance made by humans in the Stone Age. She is also busy in that respect). 11-year-old me skimmed past the sex scenes until I got back to the interesting biological and prehistorical information. I do vividly recall one passage, however, where our main characters happen to see a pair of wooly mammoths mating and it gets them so excited that they just have to do it right there, while watching those mammoths. It’s been over a decade since I read that book, but it’s… it’s just one of those things that really sticks with you, y’know?
37: A book you are scared is not going to be all you hoped it would be
