this is a very niche problem to be having but… god it’s hard to make salal leaves and red alder leaves look obviously different in a pencil drawing
me, writing my thesis: “Graphite is a versatile medium that can be turned to a diverse range of styles and techniques, and in this case I chose to forgo the meticulous rendering that I have been trained to employ as a scientific illustrator and instead opted for a looser, more stylized approach. I used expressive hatching rather than building up the rendering in slow layers, with the aim of avoiding stiff photorealism but rather creating the impression of a field sketchbook; naturalistic and, of course, accurate, but still approachable and likely even familiar for visitors.”
me, actually creating the illustrations: must. draw. every. leaflet.
I’m including three species of fern here, and the first two are easy to draw but the remaining one is The Worst
Pride and Prejudice 1995 + The Onion headlines, part 1/5

gay, tired, and matching the georgia o’keeffe print on my wall

I realized that I haven’t been drawing Maia as drowned in layers of robes as I ought to have been, so here he is in some winter finery, looking left… again.
….on another note, I just ran out of pages in my watercolor sketchbook, so now I have no other option but to work on my thesis

things that are not my thesis, volume 3: elves (and goblin) facing left
