I spent a solid fifteen-to-twenty minutes today standing in the middle of a clearing and alternately trying to ID dragonflies through binoculars and making notes on the large wasps in the salmonberry flowers, while my very very long-suffering dog laid down in the trail six yards away, sighing loudly every so often, just to remind me that she had been under the impression that a walk involves walking
we had a nice walk! I made many small friends and got bitten by many mosquitos, and got a whole bunch of shrubs and flowering plants identified.
the positive side of taking my dog to my research site is that she helped me find organisms I might otherwise have missed
….the negative side is that she did this by either stepping on them without noticing or trying to eat them
