I’m currently reading Sea of Glory, an account of the 1838 U.S. Exploring Expedition, watching The Terror (a fictionalized version of Franklin’s doomed 1845 Northwest Passage expedition), drawing Shackleton’s ship Endurance trapped in the Antarctic ice, writing a guide to historical nautical disasters for fiction writers, and, at the moment, using a copy of Sea History magazine as a fan in the heat

they’re doing such a good job of making a somewhat grim and grueling story into something absolutely chilling

I’m watching The Terror again bc SJ’s blogging reminded me I’d started ep 1 but never continued, and they mention “hubris” in the first episode
obviously, I’m committed now.
