I did it. I found the best book ever. It’s 300+ pages of the many many MANY ways people have died or been grievously injured in and around Yellowstone National Park, and a hundred pages of appendices and citations. I’ve so far finished the chapters on hot spring/geyser accidents, bison, bears, poisonous gases, lightning, plants and mushrooms, and avalanches/exposure, and I’m only on chapter 7 out of 25. I’m in love.

Every holiday season in the Central Village of my hometown, they construct the traditional pile of lobster traps decked with boughs of holly.

I just had one of those ‘suddenly and vividly remembering last night’s forgotten dream’ moments. There was a HUGE mustelid- something cougar sized but clearly a mustelid, and dream!me was very upset that I couldn’t identify this thing. I just kept listing mustelids but none of them were correct and it was… weirdly stressful.
